Itinerary

Day 1CUSCO – POROY TRAIN STATION – AGUAS CALIENTES

Early in the morning at the agreed time, we will pick you up from your hotels and transfer you to the Poroy Train Station. The train leaves at 8:25 am for Aguas Calientes, a town near the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. The train trip to Machu Picchu is one of the most beautiful and unique trips that visitors can experience in our country. The trip offers so many amazing views of the Andes and a jungle environment after descending to 2000 meters. After about 4 hours, we will have reached Aguas Calientes, where our guide will welcome you and take you (on foot, there are no taxis in this town) to your hotel.

Day 2AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU SANTUARY – AGUAS CALIENTES – CUSCO

To enjoy a calm atmosphere in MachuPicchu, it is advisable to go early in the morning; so we will leave at 5:30, after breakfast at the hotel. Our guide will take you to the local bus station to take the bus that goes up to the sanctuary of MachuPicchu.The bus trip to Machu Picchu It lasts around 25 minutes, and it offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Upon arrival, our guide will show you the most important sectors of this incredible Inca city: the great Inti watana (solar clock), the Temple of the Sun, the urban and agricultural sectors. For a long time, it was thought that Machu Picchu was legendary. Then, in 1911, the explorer Hiram Bingham stumbled over his remains.

Machu Picchu is located at 2,430 m above sea level, in middle of a tropical forest and mountains, in a an extraordinarily beautiful scene. It was probably the most amazing urban creation of the empire of the heyday of this civilization; Its giant walls, terraces, cause admiration to locals and strangers who come to visit this majestic Inca city. On the slopes you can observe nature with its rich diversity of flora and fauna. The guided tour in Machu Picchu will last approximately 2 hours, and after, you will have free time to explore the ruins on your own. If you wish, you could climb the HuaynaPicchu mountain, the huge mountain that appears in the classic photograph of Machu Picchu. It takes about an hour to reach the top, following some very steep stairs, although it is a a bit challenging, at the top, you will be rewarded with one of the most impressive views. Later we will take the bus to AguasCalientes, where You will have lunch and you can also visit the craft market. Also if you wish, you can go to relax in the hot springs. How many days do I need to acclimate in Cusco before the Trek?

It is very important to be well acclimatized to the altitude before pushing yourself on a hike. We recommend that you arrive in Cusco at least two to three days before the trek begins to help you adjust and avoid possible problems with altitude sickness during the trek. You may have already been to another area of Peru at high altitudes before arriving in Cusco. In that case, we recommend that you have a full day in Cusco to rest, recover from your trip, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Cusco before leaving for the trek. Here are some suggestions of activities to do in the vicinity of Cusco before starting your adventure trip:

Briefing or Informative Meeting

All meetings and briefings are very important, which takes place at our office or at your hotel at 5:00 p.m. one night before the tour starts. These meetings last approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Trek Balance Payment (in Cusco)

The hike must be paid in full. one day before your departure (usually after the briefing). It would be greatly appreciated if you pay the balance of the trek in cash in US dollars or local currency at our Office. You can pay by credit card or PAYPAL online, but you will have to pay a 5% service charge, charged by VISA and PAYPAL. We do not accept bank checks or payment of the balance in traveler’s checks.

Strikes and demonstrations

Strikes and demonstrations are common in Peru, and this can interrupt some of our tours. Roads can be blocked and railway tracks can be taken. However, we will try to make your trip as smooth as possible. originally planned, even if it means going out the night before the scheduled date. under these circumstances, tours may also be cancelled.
