Itinerary

Day 1Cusco | Pitumarca - Quesiuno - Alcataury - Anantapata - Surina Cocha

This day starts early. We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 in the morning and we will travel by van for approximately 3 hours until we reach the community of Alcataury, the starting point of our walk.
While we organize the last details to start the adventure, our fantastic chef will prepare a delicious and nutritious breakfast to give you all the energy you need. The guide will explain the itinerary in detail and share some safety tips to follow.

We will begin our adventure starting from a fertile valley, dominated by the impressive sacred mountain of Ausangate. You will also observe the lifestyle of the Andean communities, as well as the local fauna of the place such as llamas and alpacas.

We will ascend for 2 hours to the Puccacocha pass (4930 masl / 16170 fasl), where we will find a blue lagoon of crystalline waters of the same name. The landscape from there is impressive, it seems like a dream. With the majestic Apu Ausangate right in front of you, with water that flows from the perpetual glaciers that give rise to the lagoon.

Then we will take a winding road for 2 hours to Anantapata where we will stop for lunch. You will be amazed by the culinary wonders prepared by our chef in the middle of the mountain.

After having recharged our energy, we will continue walking for another 3 hours until we reach the highest point of our trek: the Warmisaya Pass (5,025 masl / 16,486 fasl). From here you can already see the first views of Rainbow Mountain in the distance.

We will continue with a brief descent of approximately 30 minutes to our camp, which will already be installed, near the Surina Cocha lagoon. Before going to bed, we will enjoy a well-deserved dinner in the middle of this unique landscape in the heart of the Andes. Temperatures at night drop sharply, so be sure to pack several layers of clothing and a cold-weather sleeping bag. You may have already been to another area of Peru at high altitudes before arriving in Cusco. In that case, we recommend that you have a full day in Cusco to rest, recover from your trip, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Cusco before leaving for the trek. Here are some suggestions of activities to do in the vicinity of Cusco before starting your adventure trip:
